iPod TV Shows - Fun Wherever You Go

Well, well, well. I had always thought that the inefficiency of the slow moving bureaucracy that is humankind would have put off hell freezing over for at least 10 or 15 years. But, I am a big enough person to admit when I am wrong. But perhaps finding sufficient market demand to allow consumers to pay for and download TV shows that they simply weren?t capable of rearranging their schedule to accommodate for further pop culture consumption must be one of the signs that such a point is closing in upon us. Welcome to ipod shows.

So, you unfortunately have to go to a funeral that you just can?t get out of, but it happens that the new episode of Monk is on at the same time; and the network has really been touting this week as a blockbuster episode. Well, no problem, all you need to do is log on to the apple website and go into the istore where you?ll find all things ipod. Once you?ve found ipod shows you just need to choose the network and the get to the show and you can purchase it and download it.

Fig and Olive Wine Pairing Dinner, November, 2011 (21 of 24)

Having Monk as an ipod show on your ipod is almost better than having skipped the funeral and watched the show at home, even if you taped it for later viewing. This way, you?ll always have it to watch as many times as you?d like, plus you don?t need to sit on your couch to do so, you can run all over town watching the show if you want. But, its not to say that you couldn?t also still just sit on your couch and indulge. Ipod shows are here so download them while you still can, because I can hear the crackling of forming ice in the living room of Beezelbub?s rec room.

Why People Love Crime Series

It seems that all television offers today is reality TV and crime series, but what is the reason for this? Both are extremely popular and have an incredibly large fan base, but what is the real appeal of these sorts of shows? When it comes to crime series in particular, there are a few different reasons believed to explain their overall popularity.

Why We Love Them

Crime series such as Crime Story and Wiseguy have reached heights of incredible popularity, and there are several reasons thought to be behind this. The most major is that people are interested in general by crime and how crimes are solved, and so shows such as CSI, for instance, which give us a detailed account of the steps that are taken to catch the bad guys really get our interest.

Not only that but they also include the audience as a part of the show, as throughout the duration of the show there are various hints and clues which are given that the audience can attempt to use themselves in order to piece the puzzle together.

IMG_0282

Controversy

Although crime series are generally loved by all, there has been some controversy surrounding them, especially recently. For one there has been much debate on whether or not these crime series are playing a role in the increased rate of violence in the real world. It is thought by some experts that because more people are watching violence and crime in these sorts of shows that they are carrying this violence into their own life.

Research on the effects of not only violence in television but in the media in general has been conducted extensively over the past few years in particular, and whether or not exposure to media violence causes increased levels of aggression and violence in young people is really the question of media effects research these days.

Some researchers believe that it is the psychological effects of media violence that end up causing this aggressive type of behavior, while others focus on the ways in which media violence primes or cues pre-existing aggressive thoughts and thus could really not be avoided. There have been various studies and cases conducted on this issue, and yet even with all this controversy surrounding them, crime and other violent programs continue to be incredibly popular worldwide.

This issue is definitely one which should continue to be researched, because if by reducing the violence and crime shown in media we can decrease the amount of violence and crime in the real world, then there is obviously a real goal to work towards here.

Your Favorite Classic Tv Show: What Would It Be?

Classic television will never be completely forgotten or out of style as it brought so much to television screens in living rooms across the country. Watching reruns of classic TV shows will never fall out of fashion either. Not with those of us who grew up watching and learning from these classic TV shows. And not with the new generation of classic TV fans that the re-airing of these classics in television are creating now.

Some of us can remember that being youngsters in the 70s we rushed home from school to get started on finishing our homework right away so that we could watch such classic TV shows as Gilligan?s Island and I Love Lucy before suppertime. Some of our primetime classic TV selections included Bewitched, Happy Days, The Brady Bunch, Green Acres, and The Beverly Hillbillies, Petticoat Junction, and The Partridge family. Some of these classic TV shows were still being filmed into the 80s and were joined by what are now also classic television shows we remember fondly and still enjoy watching today. Laverne & Shirley, One Day at a Time, Welcome Back Kotter, Barretta, Starsky & Hutch, Hillstreet Blues, and Mork & Mindy. When Cagney & Lacey hit the classic TV scene in the 80s, young women were empowered to dream of going into professions usually reserved for males as these two women fought crime on the mean streets of NYC and in the sometimes equally mean environment of the male dominated workplace. Our Saturday mornings were reserved for Fat Albert and the Gang, Scooby Doo, and the Jetsons. Sunday evenings we watched classic television such as Hee Haw and Disney Family Showcase Theatre.

CLASSIC THUNDERBIRD

The raunchy, pushed to the limits reality television programs that have replaced old TV shows on most networks today have nothing on those classic TV shows from the 70s and 80s. We learned true family values from the Brady?s the Walton?s, The Ingals Family, and the Partridges, not to mention the Cleavers in Leave it to Beaver, and Timmy, his Mom and super canine hero and friend, Lassie. These classic TV shows from the 70s and 80s continue to teach the family values that would otherwise be lost to the generation of children now growing up in broken homes, in families headed by only one parent, or in families in which both parents are forced to work just to make ends meet.

Those old classic TV shows taught the importance of moral values and the strength and wisdom found with several generations of a family living together or close by to one another .We learned how to share with one another and how to make friends. We learned that it was important to never lie to our parents and that they would always love us no matter what mistakes we made. We learned that there were solutions to every problem, no matter how big or small they might be. We learned to believe in ourselves and to dream big. We learned about falling in love and how to mend a broken heart. We learned all of this and so much more from these classic TV shows that will live on in those of us who have come to love them and through the television networks still brave enough to provide a platform for quality, family values shows like classic TV shows.

For many of us these shows are so ingrained in our memories it is as if Ritchie, Potsie and Mouth were our high school chums and we were right there with them throughout all of the teenage angst and mischief they got into. At the time many of us would sit and wonder what it would be like to be a Brady or Partridge. Who among us didn?t wish we owned the General Lee and could do some off- roading that rivaled that of the Duke brothers? Mork made us hopeful that it there was life on other planets, that they would be as hilarious and ready to make friends as he was. Oh and how many of our big brothers shot BB guns into the ground when Mom wasn?t looking because they were intent on finding oil and becoming millionaires like good ol? Jed Clampitt did? Okay so not everything we learned from these classic TV shows was something Mom was thrilled to find us reenacting. But is sure was a whole lot of fun. Classic TV encouraged you to use your imagination. Not at all like the mindless stuff that permeates television and our children our bombarded with today that spark little, if any imagination.

No, classic television will never be completely forgotten or go out of style. There are too many of us old and young who will keep the demand for these old TV shows alive.

Growing Up With Erik Estrada

Erik Estrada was born in 1949 in East Harlem, Manhattan and is of Puerto Rican descent. Although he became popular later on for Spanish language telenovelas, he will always be most well known for his lead role in the television series CHiPs. Estrada played Officer Frank Poncherello, a California Highway Patrolman, hence the shows name CHiPs.

Erik Estrada made his film debut in 1970s The Cross and the Switchblade which was followed by a short, but moderately successful film career for him. Estradas film highlights are what landed him the leading role in the hit TV show CHiPs. He signed on to the show at the very beginning in 1977 and remained the star until the end of its final season in 1983. As a result of his newly discovered mainstream fame, he quickly became a teen idol, appearing on the cover of a variety of publications. By the second season of CHiPs, it had quickly claimed its spot among the top watched 70s TV shows.

Bernina 350-stoff

CHiPs had an idea for a two part episode in the second season that would require some off camera work for Estrada. He began very strict, regimented martial arts training with Frank Argelander. Argelander was a highly skilled instructor in SeishinDo Kenpo, an American martial art system of self defense. Estrada and Argelander even appeared on the cover of Fighting Stars Magazine together that same year. The publication was a widely distributed fighting magazine and that issue featured an article of Erik Estrada and Frank Argelander discussing their training regimen.

The year of 1979 brought some unfortunate fortune to the life of Erik Estrada when he was seriously injured in a stunt on the set of the CHiPs TV show. While filming a scene on set he was thrown from a 900 pound motorcycle and broke both wrists in addition to fracturing several of his ribs. However, later that year things started to look up again for Estrada when he was voted one of People magazines 10 Sexiest Bachelors in the World. He was even awarded the coveted spot on the cover of the November issue.

In 1981 Estrada had a salary dispute with the network executives which ultimately landed him on a hiatus from the series. Although he was replaced by Olympic medalist Bruce Jenner for a few episodes, his absence proved to be only temporary when he returned later that season. The CHiPs TV show was eventually cancelled in 1983, but Erik Estrada has remained a prominent figure in the media even today.

American Idol - Sanjaya Conspiracy

Ok, there is no doubt Sanjaya Malakar was not the most talented idol contestant, but I really do believe, he was one of the most entertaining. I personally would tune in just to see what his hairstyle would be the current week, and hoping his performances would get better. Millions of viewers will concur with me on his entertainment value, as he survived all the way to the top 7. My question is, could he have gone farther? Did American Idol boot him before his time?

After the top 12 results show , Sanjaya was gaining momentum each and every week. He was not even in the bottom three until he was voted off. Contestants such as Chris Richardson and Phil Stacy were consistently in the bottom three. However, when Sanjaya was voted off, these two were in the top bracket!

Sanjaya had the support of Howard Stern, and his millions of fans. Sure, Stern does not have the audience he used to when he was on terrestrial radio, but he does have approximately five to six million. He urged his fans to vote early and often for the San-Man, and many did. They used any method available to register as many votes as possible for the loveable underdog. This is what may have lead to Sanjaya's demise.

IMG_0951

At the end of each American Idol broadcast, read the fine print. It says something to the affect that the producers have the final decision and the rights to disqualify any votes that appear to have been automated or unfair to give one contestant an advantage. Now, some Stern fans have admitted they used fiendish software to cast hundreds if not thousands of votes in one shot for Sanjaya. Were thousands of votes eliminated or disqualified?

Look, sure American Idol lets us, the viewers, vote for the next superstar. However, do you really think they would let the least talented become the next idol? Sanjaya had fans, but he was not the best singer, not by a longshot. In the end, American Idol will do what's best for American Idol.

Farewell Sanjaya. You will not be forgotten for at least another week or so, when your done with the talk show circuit.

Classic Television Shows; Re-Introduce Your Family Today

?They don?t make ?em like they used to.? You hear this said about everything ? cars, houses, toys, clothes? Well, they don?t make TV shows like they used to, either. If you grew up watching classic TV, you probably have some very fond memories of sitting in front of the television with your family watching some of the classics at night. There are very few modern television shows that the whole family can sit down and watch together. Either they are geared towards kids and the grown ups aren?t interested or they are geared for adults and are inappropriate for the kids.

There is good news for families who would like to share some time in front of the television together, though. Many of the classic TV shows are being released on DVD, usually a season at a time. Families can now enjoy TV classics from the 50?s, 60?s 70?s, and 80?s on DVD?s that include lots of extras like interviews with the cast members and outtakes.

One of the biggest perks of watching the shows on DVD ? no annoying commercials. Today, we?re used to watching television on our terms. We fast forward through commercials on shows we?ve recorded on DVRs. When these classic shows first aired, there was no fast forwarding. Viewers had to sit through the commercials or flip the channel (sometimes manually!) often only to find more commercials.

Think about it. You can now introduce your kids to TV classics such as Happy Days, season by season and show them the first time a television show literally ?jumped the shark.? Retro is cool right now, and it doesn?t get much more retro than Happy Days. It was retro from the day it debuted.

Black Friday White Cartoon Pup and Cupcake Design Protective Decal Skin Sticker for Amazon Kindle DX 9.7 inch E-Book Reader Black Friday 2011

What?s available on classic TV DVD? Just about anything you?re interested in.

Variety Shows. Remember a few years back when Nick and Jessica attempted a Christmas special variety show? If your kids were interested in that, then they would probably be interested in The Sonny and Cher Show or The Donny and Marie Show. Sure these 70?s shows were high on the cheese factor, but the performers had some real talent.

Another great variety show from the 70?s that the family will love is The Carol Burnett Show. You?d be amazed at how much today?s kids appreciate good, clean, funny comedy when they are actually exposed to it.

Some of the best episodes of variety shows were the Christmas specials. Sonny and Cher and Donny and Marie had their share of Christmas specials, but the master of the Christmas special was Bob Hope. Many of his classic Christmas variety shows are available on DVD.

Classic Sitcoms. I Love Lucy. The Honeymooners. The Dick Van Dyke Show. Leave it to Beaver. The Brady Bunch. The Beverly Hill Billies. The Cosby Show. Family Ties. The Jeffersons. Happy Days. Mash. The Monkees. Did you sit around watching these shows (or reruns of these shows) with your family when you were a kid? Chances are you did. All of these classic television sitcoms are available on DVD. Wouldn?t it be great to sit back with your kids and a great big bowl of popcorn and watch The Cosby Show?s Claire Huxtable tell her husband Cliff to please go upstairs and kill the children? Now that?s classic tv.

Classic Drama/Adventure. Most dramas fall into the one hour crime show genre nowadays. They aren?t always pleasant to watch and they certainly aren?t appropriate for the kids. Adventure type shows like 24 or Prison Break aren?t for the kids either. But McGyver. Now there?s a show the whole family can watch together and learn a thing or two about how to make a bomb from a piece of chewing gum, a paperclip and a pencil.

Little House on the Prairie. Gunsmoke. Bonanza. The Waltons. Wonder Woman. Murder She Wrote. Columbo. Emergency. The A Team. Mission Impossible. The Lone Ranger. The list of classic drama/adventure tv shows on DVD goes on and on.

Talk Shows. It seems like anyone can get his or her own talk show these days, but they don?t last long. The king of all talk show hosts is Johnny Carson and classic excerpts from his late night talk show The Tonight Show are DVD. Show the kids some real talent and real class by introducing them to Johnny.

Instead of renting a movie this weekend for the family enjoy, why not try renting a season of a classic TV show to introduce the kids to?

Free iPod Downloads - Entertainment In Your Palms

I don?t like free music because my pockets are filled with wrappers, receipts and lint, although admittedly, seeing as how I know no other existence, its difficult to really be sure about that. No, the reason I like free music is because I am inherently a fan of purity and origin and intention. I understand the realistic makeup of the world we live within and that everyone needs to pay their electric bill; and that?s why I?m not here to criticize revenue-garnering music (although I think that everything has reasonable limits). But, I would like to strongly emphasize my love and appreciation for free music. It seems to me that the word ?free? is a double-entendre.

And surprisingly enough, helping further this free spread of artistic expression is none other than the ipod. I make the preceeding sentence appear in a sense of surprise because the music industry along with Apple have been quite concerned with the future of recorded music, due to free downloading, but that?s just one side of ipod?s story. The nature of apple computers, conducive to artistic creation, has allowed all sorts of amalgams of new and old technology come together in new forms of music; and the ipod is helping to spread the works to anyone who would like to listen.

Several artists have begun to experiment with the new capabilities using their Macs, instruments and ipods. To a good deal of them, it?s about the music, and they have thusly put their music online as free ipod downloads. These are completely legal, as they have not only the consent, but also the encouragement of the creators. This is a side of free downloading that should be giving all persons involved with music something to smile about. To music aficionados, its really the way that things are supposed to be, for the musicians it gives them a forum from which to extend their craft and for the executives, it can mean that people are getting excited about music again.

Who would have thought that the esoteric nature of my passion for free music would be represented and carried by something like free downloading on your ipod (a previously dirty secret that had all sorts of difficult paradoxes). No matter, I just want to let the music ring.

70s TV Show CHiPs Trivia

The 70s TV show CHiPs was shot in the late 70s and early 80s which could be considered as a very controversial time in the world, this series was no exception to that. There were always so many back stories with the cast and the crew and conflicts and fights that most fans never even knew about, and if they did, it was not until well after the show was off the air. Although the 70s TV show CHiPs was only on the network for six seasons, there were many interesting and surprising things about it. The top five CHiPs TV show trivia facts are:

1. Rick Rosner, the creator of the show, worked for the Los Angeles County Sheriffs Office as a reserve deputy before creating the show. One shift, he was out on a coffee break in the mid 70s and saw two young California Highway Patrol officers on motorcycles which is what gave him the idea for the show.

Loverboy

2. During the time period when original episodes of CHiPs were still being broadcast, to avoid any confusion, they referred to the syndication episodes as CHiPs Patrol. Fans of the show started to mock this concept immediately because of its redundancy; the show then literally meant California Highway Patrol Patrol. When the series was officially off the air, they went back to the original name for the episodes being played in syndication.

3. Erik Estrada and Larry Wilcox only drew their firearms in CHiPs 99, but never in the original series.

4. Seven Mary Three is a rock band, but even more worthy of noting is their name. They chose their band name based on the radio call sign that the character Jon Baker used in the show.

5. If you were an avid fan then you most likely noticed that Jon Bakers service in Vietnam was occasionally referenced in the show. This made his character one of the earliest and most positive portrayals of a veteran from the Vietnam War. The real Larry Wilcox was actually in Vietnam for a period of 13 months serving as a Marine artilleryman.

The 70s TV show CHiPs is one of the most intriguing and interesting series behind the scenes and these are only a few glimpses into what really went on to make the show such a success. The fact that fans remain interested in the ins and outs of what made the show such a hit truly tells us how timeless it was and still is.

Classic TV DVDs Return Bob Hope to the Small Screen

?I?m so old, they?ve canceled my blood type? quipped Bob Hope, upon reaching the age of 100 in July 2003. Indeed, Bob Hope has been around throughout the 20th century, becoming immortal to so many generations by entertaining the masses with countless films, TV and radio shows and of course his appearances with the troops overseas.

Bob Hope was born on May 29, 1903 in Eltham, England although his family moved to Cleveland, Ohio when he was four years old (?I left England at the age of four when I found out I couldn?t be king?). His first modest success in show business came in 1915 when he won a Charlie Chaplin imitation competition.

He began to work in vaudeville in the early 1920s and during the early 1930s was appearing on the stage in Broadway. His first film role was ?The Big Broadcast? in 1938 in which he sang the song ?Thanks for the Memory? in a duet with Shirley Ross. That song would become Bob Hope?s signature tune.

Bob Hope appeared in over 75 films throughout his career although he only won two honorary Oscars. He even joked about his lack of Oscar awards - ?Oscar night at our house is called Passover!? He may not have won many Oscars but he enjoyed bringing his unique humor to the awards ceremony ? he presented or co-presented them on a record 18 occasions up until 1977.

His most famous movies, of course remain the series of ?road? movies that he made with Bing Crosby during the 1940s. He also starred in ?The Paleface? along with Jane Russell which many consider his best film. Today, many of his classic movies are available on DVD or regularly shown on cable TV channels.

True Food Kitchen: Interior

Hope took to TV fairly late in his career, not entirely convinced that the still fairly new medium would succeed. ?Television ? that?s where movies go when they die,? quipped Hope once. However, it was television that really made Bob Hope a star and a household name throughout the United States.

Easter Sunday 1950 was a memorable day. It was on that day that Bob Hope made his formal television debut. In addition to Hope?s appearance, the ?Star Spangled Revue? featured other popular entertainers and stars of the day including Dinah Shore and Douglas Fairbanks Jr.

The show?s formula was immediately successful and Bob Hope?s television shows remained successful for the next 40 years. NBC was his network of choice and Bob Hope appeared in many of the network?s Christmas and other holiday specials. His last TV special was in 1996 appearing alongside Tony Danza. Today these programs are rightly considered classic TV shows, television programs that translate for multiple generations.

Perhaps Bob Hope is most famous for his appearances with the troops, a gesture that almost certainly boosted morale far more than any appearance by the president. His first such appearance was in May 1941, when Bob Hope, along with various friends, appeared at March Field in California to entertain the airmen.

The rest, as they say, is history. Bob Hope was soon christened ?G.I. Bob? by the troops and went on to perform all over the world during the next 60 years. He has entertained troops and broadcast from Europe, the South Pacific, the Indian Ocean and the Persian Gulf. He nearly always appeared in army fatigues as a further gesture of support for the soldiers.

Bob Hope has been honored five times by the United States Congress, has been made honorary mayor of Palm Springs and an honorary veteran. He also has several theaters, a battleship and an airport named in his honor and his love of golf lives on in one of the sport?s major events ? the Bob Hope Classic.

But his biggest legacy is the wealth of entertainment he has given us over the years. And of course, his sharp wit; his one-liners and quotes are almost as well known as his TV shows and movies. As he accurately remarked once, ?I?ve always been in the right place and time. Of course, I steered myself there.?

Watch Your Favorite TV Shows On Your Computer

If you're tired of staying at home in order to watch your favorite tv series on the evenings that they air, there's now lots of great alternatives to fiddling with the VCR or even setting up a DVR. The DVR can only catch shows that are scheduled to air, but what if you are looking for a show that premiered a long time ago and isn't scheduled for a rerun? Well, it's easy if you have your computer.

All of the major broadcast networks now provide a great selection of some of your favorite tv shows for you to watch online and most of them are available to be streamed onto your computer by the time you wake up the morning after its network broadcast. Want to know if Jack Bauer managed to save Los Angeles again last night? Now you can watch him in action at Fox's website. Wondering if they've given us any more answers about the island's mysterious secrets on Lost? Surf on over to ABC.com. Need to know if Gil Grissom has caught the miniature killer yet? The answers are waiting for you at CBS.com. Will the Heroes keep New York from blowing up? Catch the latest episode online at NBC!

Ozone House Lunch - October 7, 2011

Fox and ABC provide the best user experience for watching streaming video, with both of them using proprietary plug-ins that require a very brief download. The picture quality at both sites is excellent. Both CBS and NBC have some catching up to do with their technology, so you might want to continue trying to see their shows when they air.

Most of the networks are also streaming aired episodes of this season?s cancelled tv shows online as well and some of them are even adding the episodes that made it through production, but didn?t make it to broadcast. So if there was a show that you loved that no one else seemed to enjoy, you just might want to check that network?s website and see if they?ve made it available online. There?s a pretty good chance you?ll finally get to see it.

Of course, there is one drawback (that's always the case, isn't it?) If you're an overseas viewer, you won't be able to watch these shows online directly at the broadcast websites due to the way proxies are set up, but there are some alternatives for you as well.

Some of the alternatives to consider if you prefer to download your favorite shows rather than streaming the video, or if you live overseas, include Fast TV Downloads. Once you're a member, you can search for and download virtually any tv show and then you can just watch it whenever you like without any sort of buffering problems. What's more, if you have a laptop, you don't even need to be at home to download, because you can grab shows as long as you're connected to the internet.

One other possibility you should check out is Satellite TV for PC. It provides access to over 3000 tv stations right on your computer. You don't need to be outside the US to use it either, so if this sounds like something you'd like, 3000 channels, you should check it out.

1970s Classic Television On DVD Bring Variety Stars Like Sonny And Cher Back To Fans

Imagine a family, all sitting around the TV, possibly the only TV in the house. Dad is holding the remote control, which everyone refers to as ?the clicker.? The remote has only two functions. One of the functions turns the TV off and on. The other changes the channels, all 7 or 8 of them, with a click of a button. Now try to imagine what that family is watching. Are you imagining them watching one of the classic TV shows from the 1970?s?

In the 1970s most families had one, maybe two televisions in the house, and the second television was usually stashed away in mom and dad?s room where they could watch the classic shows that the kids couldn?t watch yet like Maude or Soap. The televisions in the house might have even shown the programs in black and white.

What kept families glued to these televisions that had only a handful of channels, an ancient clicker, and frequently no color? The classic TV shows from the 1970s, of course. There were so many family-friendly shows in a variety of genres.

For families that enjoyed comedies, the 1970s had some of the most memorable sitcoms. The families in the ?70?s learned all about families in the 1950?s by watching the wildly popular Happy Days and its equally popular spin off Laverne and Shirley. Happy Days also launched the career of comedian Robin Williams who went on to star in another spin off of the show ? Mork and Mindy.

Other family friendly classic television shows of the 1970?s include The Partridge Family (with teen hearth throb David Cassidy), the show that introduced us to John Travolta, Welcome Back Kotter, One Day at a Time, Chico and the Man, The Odd Couple, Good Times, WKRP in Cincinnati, What?s Happening, Three?s Company and The Jeffersons.

Families with older children enjoyed comedies with a social conscience like All in the Family, Maude, Barney Miller or Mash. These classic 1970s sitcoms dealt with the social issues of the day in poignant yet comedic way.

Families also had several variety shows to choose from for their viewing pleasure. Classic variety shows such as The Donny and Marie Show and The Sonny and Cher Show had music, comedy sketches and popular guest stars each week. The Carol Burnett Show brought together some of the 1970?s funniest comedians each week and The Muppet Show combined the genius of Jim Henson?s fantastic creations with musical and comedy guest stars sharing the stage with Kermit, Miss Piggy and Animal.

There were plenty of one hour family dramas, too. Eight is Enough, Little House on the Prairie, and The Waltons were just a few of the classic television dramas that brought families together in front of the television each week.

There was also room for crime fighting and action heroes in the classic 1970s TV shows. The world learned what bionics was in The Six Million Dollar Man and its spin off The Bionic Woman. Each week families would tune in to see how Lee Majors and Jamie Sommers would use their bionic eyes and ears. CHiPs gave us a glimpse into the life of California Highway Patrol officers. Starsky and Hutch chased bad buys in their hot rod and BJ and the Bear tracked down bad guys in an 18 wheeler.

Two other classic television shows from that era that can?t be defined by any of these other genres were The Love Boat and Fantasy Island. These shows were the place for the stars of yesteryear and the stars of the current era to make guest appearances, several at a time. For years, families stayed home on Saturday nights just to see who would get off the plane onto the island or turn up Julie the Cruise Director?s guest list.

In today?s modern times, there are hundreds of channels on each of the four or more TV sets in most homes. Yet, there seems to never be anything to watch, especially something that the whole family can enjoy together. Many of these classic TV shows from the 1970?s are now on DVD and can be bought or rented either online or at a store. Why not consider getting a classic TV DVD for your family this Friday night instead of the usually family movie?

Advantages Of Watching Movies Online

If you enjoy watching movies or you just appreciate a well-made movie then it is a certainty that you are interested in a facility that allows you to watch your favorite movies anytime you want. Nowadays, this is a very easy thing to do as there are many of sites that offer such services. You can easily watch movies from your own room without having to spend a small fortune on renting the DVD or going to the cinema. This method allows fans to watch movies shortly after their release by downloading them or watching them streaming.

Speaking of movies, the fans can enjoy not only movies released in the United States but also from other countries at only a few clicks away. Locating movies is a very easy thing to do as the sites that provide the latest links to online movies and online television shows have the facility to locate the movies by categories or countries. Another method of searching for a certain movie is by the movie title, a certain actor or other similar movie characteristics.

If you understand foreign languages you can watch a foreign TV station and enjoy a movie in your native or second language. A brand new technology called satellite television for PC allow computer users to receive and access as many as approximately 3,000 TV stations and over 1,500 radio stations. Sites that offer these kind of services, with other words, sites that provide the latest links to online movies and online TV shows are worth a try as they are not only easy to use but reliable and safe. Basically, some of the main advantages for movie fans are:

? Visitors can download the movies legally and in a safe way.

Downtown Vancouver at Night - Burrard

? Users have the ability to watch the movies streaming.

? Movie fans can watch their favorite movies in a very high quality imagine.

? Besides movies, users can view television shows, sports, documentaries and others.

? All these shows can be watched onto the computer monitor, television or even a projector.

This is the perfect solution for movie fans that are looking for certain old movies that are almost inaccessible. Young people enjoy watching new movies online nowadays as they have 24h access to the Internet and they spend several hours in front of their personal computers rather than watching the TV. The satellite TV on PC gives the visitor access to stations, some of them aren?t even available on conventional satellite TV. Users can watch dramas, comedies, action movies, anything they want, the offer is rich.

All things considered, it looks like the Internet has another big thing for visitors thanks to these sites that offer links to online movies and online TV shows which are getting more and more popular among Internet user as this method is not only safe but also fast and cheap. Searching for your favorite movie was never as easy as it is now, at only just a few clicks away, without headaches, without having to run down to the DVD store to rent/purchase it. What else movie fans can desire?

Advertising And Celebrity

It used to be taboo for movie stars to do advertising for products in the United States. We never used to see our favorite movie star in commercials for Frosted Flakes. Catherine Zeta Jones recently broke this unspoken rule by appearing in a series of T-Mobile advertisements. While it is anyone prerogative on how they want to make money, I can understand why movie stars try to avoid getting involved in advertising for products or services. Charity advertising is one thing. Many movie stars do commercials and public service announcements for charities. However, hawking products for Madison Avenue might not be a good idea for movie stars. It can be difficult to play a serious cop role in your newest movie when you are known as the peanut butter guy from television. In short, movie stars and advertising just do not mix.

Occasionally, a celebrity?s success with selling products does depend on the product. George Foreman is now just as well known for his grills as he is as a boxer. I guess the question is did the grill make Foreman successful or did Foreman make the grill successful? George Foreman was a boxer professionally but he had done a series of advertising for muffler shops and other products prior to the grill. Perhaps George was so likable that the combination of a likable celebrity and a product everyone wants is like gold. This seems the most logical explanation for Foreman?s success. What about other celebrities?

Uff! i'm tired....it's made by me!

Why Does It Work When It Works?

Public Image is important in advertising. If public image was not important, then McDonalds would not have canceled their contract with Kobe Bryant after Kobe was indicted on rape charges. Although he was never convicted, he still lost all endorsement deals with McDonalds and other companies. So there is an important question: are we buying the product, or the celebrity? There is a simple answer. Regardless of the pitching by the celebrities, substandard products only survive for a short time. Failed television shows are a good example of this theory. Jeff Foxworthy is one of the most successful stand-up comedians in history, and he is a well liked celebrity. However, his television sitcom The Jeff Foxworthy Show failed terribly. Foxworthy was not negatively affected by the failure of his sitcom because he went on to start the very successful variety show Blue Collar TV. But as you can see, advertising is a two way street. The celebrity needs to have some credibility in the eyes of the sponsor and the customers. Also, more importantly, product needs to be of high quality as well.

On of the better examples of celebrities in advertising used strictly to sway consumer choice is the war between the cola giants. Pepsi has a reputation of trying to target the younger demographics by featuring such celebrities as Michael Jackson and Madonna while Coca Cola has featured such celebrities as Michael Jordan and Elton John. Pepsi wanted their reputation as the coolest new thing while Coke went with the wholesome family approach. To this point, research has shown that Pepsi usually come up tops in the cola wars. However, as long as there are celebrities to hire there will always be celebrities in advertising.

80's TV Brings Laughter And Action To The Masses

Thank goodness for television DVDs and reruns featuring the 1980s television classics many of us fell in love with and still enjoy watching today. Thank goodness too for the blogs dedicated to discussing and reliving some of the greatest moments in television history that were made by the televisions classics of the 1980s. 1980s television was built on both family friendly sitcoms like The Cosby Show as well as some dramatic and action packed dramas like Dallas and The Fall Guy. The combination of the familiar and the cutting edge made 80s television classics to a generation.

One memorable season of Dallas came to a close with a cliffhanger that captivated the world. In that final scene, a shadowy figure approaches and shoots JR Ewing before the screen faded to black and the credits rolled. The world was fixated on ?who shot JR? over what seemed to be an endless summer hiatus. Sue Ellen, Cliff Barnes, Pamela, Lucy, Ray, competing oil barons JR had crossed, and even brother Bobby all had motive and were suspect. I mean JR Ewing really never met someone that he didn?t eventually make an enemy of. But when the question of who was finally answered it was Sue Ellen?s little sister Kristen Shepard who had tried to send JR to his maker for judgment day. Dallas is now available on DVD so you can relive every addictive moment with the Ewing?s at Southfork on those 1980s evenings.

What do a substitute teacher, farm enthusiast, addict and an old Sicilian have in common? Retirement and living with roommates. The Golden Girls, a classic television show from the 80s gave us a different perspective on getting older, working beyond the typical age of retirement, and the tribulations of sharing a home with other adults, even if one of them is the mother you thought had been comfortably situated to live at the Shady Pines nursing home. We laughed a lot with the gals, but we also cried a lot too. Issues faced by older adults were also played out on this 80s television classic. Letting your grown children live their own lives, pensions not lasting as long as they did 50 years ago, the poor conditions in many nursing homes, Alzheimer?s, heart conditions, deaths of friends, planning for our own deaths, and dealing with the conflicts that arise from living with a house full of roommates were faced with determination, humor, and Sicilian curses by these Golden Gals we grew to love so much.. In addition to picking up episodes of The Golden Girls on DVD, you can still catch reruns of The Golden Girls on television stations devoted to showing 1980s classic TV.

Marbled Coffe Cake Recipe!

Quick, name the five Cosby kid. Were you able to remember the children of Cliff and Claire Huxtable from the beloved 1980s TV sitcom, The Cosby Show? Sandra, Denise, Theo, Vanessa, and Rudy, the Huxtable kids, kept Father, Dr, Cliff Huxtable, and Mother, Attorney Claire Huxtable busy dealing with their growing pains. The theme of this 1980s television sitcom focused on a working family living in a brownstone in New York. The Cosby show is often heralded as being one of the first television sitcoms to feature a black family in a situation that many of us could then and now relate to. The Cosby?s were a loving family headed by two professional, hard-working parents. Love of family, civic duty, education, political and religious participation, and service to others, integrity, living above negative influences such as smoking, drinking, gang violence, and racism were all themes that were skillfully dealt with by The Cosby Show writers. Still seen on certain television stations, we never get tired of watching the Huxtables. Selected seasons of The Cosby Show are now available on DVD too so you can watch them whenever you want to.

Perhaps one of the least talked about but better loved action adventure shows on during the 80s was The Fall Guy. He made the hearts of women skip a beat with his spectacular stunts, completed without giving his tanned face or muscled body a scratch. Falling off tall buildings, jumping cars over flaming lines of vehicles, throwing punches, crashing through windows, fighting crime and rescuing those in need is what every action-packed episode centering around. Fearless stuntman and hero, sexy bounty hunter Colt Seavers provided us with a weekly dose of excitement and mystery. Colt and his cousin Howie never failed to catch their fugitive from the law man. This is one classic television show from the 1980s that still gets the adrenaline pumping even when watching reruns. Seasons 1 through 5 of The Fall Guy are now available on DVD. This is one 1980s action TV show that will never lose its appeal.

Classic television now encompasses great sitcoms and dramas from the 1980s. Catching up on some of your favorite TV families like the Huxtables or the Ewings is now even easier with the broadening availability of classic 80s television on DVD. Catch an episode or purchase a DVD and relive the memories of that great era.

The LOST Season Finale

I admit, the second season`s finale of LOST was amazing. I was a bit disappointed from the last episodes but this one absolutely turned my interest back. Finally, something really important happened and we found out some of the Island`s secrets and as it seems ? we`ll continue to figure them out in the next season.

There`s obviously no sickness on the Island and maybe the sign ?quarantine? on the doors just have to keep the people in the hatches so that they continue to do their job about the experiment of Dharma Project. That doesn`t explain why Russo has killed her friends, thinking they were ?sick?, but probably she just got crazy (which actually doesn`t seem very likely) or maybe there is something more that we still don`t know.

Michael seems to be one of the most stupid characters but I don`t think that this is the end of his appearance. Walt has some paranormal abilities that have to be shown. I think that Michael and Walt either will decide to come back (because of Michael`s consciousness) or won`t be able to find the way and finally the ocean will bring them back to the Island.

Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health

About the Others, I don`t think they will hurt Kate, Jack and Sawyer. They will probably use them for their experiments or try to make them a part of their group. Which is more interesting for me is why do the Others hide their identity? Who are they hiding from?! That`s something that I really can`t wait to find out.

Classic 1970s TV: The shows that made the family tune in

Reality Tv Stars ? What Happens When The Show Ends?

Reality TV is more than just a passing craze. After the first episodes of Survivor in 2000, it was pretty clear that reality TV is here to stay. Sometimes, going on a reality show propels contestants to success, even if they don?t win their show. Elisabeth Hasselbeck went from Survivor to hosting The View and Jennifer Hudson lost American Idol but won an Oscar for her role in Dreamgirls. But not everyone is equipped to handle their newfound stardom.

Loss of Privacy

Going on a reality TV show propels contestants into the spotlight. Many people feel like they know the contestants on a reality show, even though they have never met. It?s pretty easy to understand this phenomenon ? you are welcoming these people into your home each week, and they way that most reality shows are shot make it seem like contestants are speaking directly to you. But when contestants go home, many of them are unable to return to their normal lives. Contestants are often stopped in the course of their day to day activities, sometimes for an autograph or picture, other times to be told just what they thought of their game play. It?s hard for most contestants to have this lack of anonymity, especially those who felt that they weren?t portrayed favorably on their show.

cake and cupcakes!

Family and Relationships

Going on a reality TV show can have an unexpected impact on the family and relationships of contestants. Some family members of contestants have reported that they have been approached by fans, usually to complain about the actions of their son or daughter. A reality show can also put an enormous amount of strain on a relationship. Most reality TV shows are shot over the course of several months, during which contestants are isolated from family and friends. That, in itself, can be difficult for a relationship. But sometimes the most stressful part is the action of the contestants on the show. There have been instances where a contestant has cheated on their significant other while on a show, and others who were simply horrified at how their partner played the game.

Jobs

There have been many contestants whose jobs have been impacted by going on a reality TV show. A show like The Apprentice may highlight reasons to hire someone. But when you are shown on a show as lying and cheating, employers notice and are not as quick to hire you. Many times contestants on reality TV shows list ?model? or ?bartender? as their occupation, as they are professions most able to take 2-3 months off of work without being asked questions. But contestants who are lawyers or doctors find it hard to go back to their practices; many lawyers are no longer actively practicing law.

There haven?t been many studies done on the long-term impact of being on a reality TV show. But the articles that have been written show most need continued support from a mental health professional. And for most part, this is not a consequence that any of them consider.

Paid Tv ? Buying Media Online ? The Good Virus That Can Help Spread A Marketing Campaign

The internet is providing paid TV-like advertising opportunities. Most of the companies that are buying paid TV-like advertising online are buying in blocks of a three month period. Many companies are analyzing how the benefits of this type of advertising have an added advantage in reaching, as well as tracking, a wider audience. There is no doubt that most are more than satisfied with the results.

The diversification of paid TV-like internet advertising not only includes banner advertising, but e-mail newsletters, ads that are targeted by the web page content, text ads, and regional ads (which include direct targeting of a company?s marketing territories, i.e. cities, states). This blitz of advertising effect when done at the same time creates a buzz effect that exponentially increases the marketing effect.

Companies that are buying paid TV-like online advertising do not have the hassle of negotiating with search engine companies if they opt to use an agency that will provide that service for them. It becomes the advertisers? job to negotiate the best placement of the client?s ads. It is also the responsibility of the advertiser to provide their client with projected visitor counts.

There are so many nuts and bolts that comprise the area of paid TV-like online advertising that it is best to contract with an advertising service because of their expertise.

There are advantages to buying online media advertising rather than traditional television ads. Because of the popularity of chat rooms, e-mail, and every day web searching, the internet has the capability of reaching a very wide audience that is performing more than one function at a time, unlike traditional TV viewing. The ability for an advertisement to appear while the user is performing other internet functions is a vastly different marketing technique in comparison to interruptive television commercials.

Online media advertising has increased sales as well as branding awareness.

Some paid TV online marketing companies have options whereby their client can place ads in exchange for a percentage of any sales resulting from the advertising. This feature is a selling point that traditional paid TV ads do not offer. With this offer, clients can save money and yet be effectively reaching out to the masses.

Companies offering search engine marketing as part of online media buying also handle the aspect of creating and optimizing their clients meta tags and manage their clients ?cost per click? marketing campaigns. In addition, some companies are offering blogging as part of an online media campaign. Nowadays, with the advent of social bookmarking, companies have also started to offer social bookmarking services as part of the total marketing package to their clients.

Key Advantages of Paid TV Online Media Buying

The companies that sell the marketing of online advertising have the advantage of tracking the information gathered as a result of internet user behavior. Ad agencies deliver a marketing analysis as well as any recommendations with regards to any changes needed in an online marketing strategy. It is also easy to swap outads, unlike TV advertising takes considerable production time.

Free Movies... On Your Desktop... Legally... Really!!

Your Website Design Team has been enjoying a new web launch as we worked late this week, and we wanted to share. Netflix and Blockbuster are going to have to get up to speed with a newly launched NBC and Fox joint venture website or loose their proverbial kyster in the opinion of Remote Helpdesk 1 who hosts "My Name Is Bill W". The true life story of the founder of Alcoholics Anonymous (AA).

online helpdesk web based pc repair

NBC and Fox have teamed up to offer great movies Free, TV shows Free, and clips Free right on your desk top... no trips to the store... no waiting on snail mail. Movies on demand... on your time... at the place of your choosing... on your desktop... LEGAL and (did Computer Man mention?) FREE... an idea whose time has come.

The new video on demand website launched Wednesday, 12 March 2008 and is supported through advertising. Sound familiar? O.K. So it is somewhat like TV. Who cares? It is still a real entertainment alternative - a real entertainment value, and the Tennessee Mountain Man predicts it will be a big hit.

Like Tivo, you can fast forward, pause, etc. The only draw back is that if you are fast forwarding to skip an advertisement it won't exactly work. You will land on an ad you must allow to play to continue watching the movie.

World Satellite TV - Why Should You Consider World Satellite TV Software?

World Satellite TV software is the rising star of personal computing entertainment. As with most innovative new technologies, this software is going where computers haven\'t been before. You can now watch satellite TV from your PC or laptop. You may ask yourself what benefits can be had over traditional dish satellite systems. Let\'s review the top 5 benefits of world satellite TV software here.

\n\n

Cost would obviously be the first benefit to world satellite TV software. The average monthly fee for dish satellite TV ranges from $50 to $100 per month. Don\'t forget to add potential equipment fees and installation charges. Cable TV subscriptions can cost as much as dish systems or even more if you add lots of premium channels.

\n\n

World satellite TV for PC software, however, charges only the cost of downloading the software. There are no monthly bills to pay after the initial download. Good quality satellite TV software costs can range from $40 to $100, but since it is a one time only fee, the long range cost is considerably less than dish or cable.

\n\n

The technology of world satellite TV allows you to view sports, movies, and TV shows from around the world and since the software runs from your personal computer, you may be inclined to branch out and watch programs you might not watch otherwise.

\n\n

Downloaded to a laptop computer, world satellite TV software becomes a wonderfully portable way to access your favorite TV channels from home, work or while travelling. Some people even take their laptop camping and hunting. The only thing neccessary is a reliable remote connection to the internet and a good power source for your laptop computer.

\n\n

The ability to view TV channels in different languages is a great innovation for people not living in their home country. With world satellite TV, there are multiple foreign language channel choices. Watching TV from your homeland can make foreign travel or foreign residency much easier to bear.

\n\n

Both traditional dish satellite systems and cable TV have their own unique benefits. They can be watched on a large screen TV and are generally a reliable form of entertainment. But for cost effectiveness, ease of use, extensive channel variety and portability, world Satellite TV is worth consideration.

BBC Banned Music: Top Singles Banned By the BBC

The British Broadcasting Corporation also known as the BBC is a public broadcasting corporation. Therefore, it allows itself to ban materials that deviate from certain standards of civility. During the years, many singles that were seen as too explicit, distasteful or bear the potential for offending the British public were banned from BBC airplay. Here you can read about some of them.

\n\n\n

In 1977, when England was celebrating the Queens Jubilee, the Sex Pistols had released their second single titled God Save the Queen. The single includes controversial lyrics that rhyme the national anthem title with fascist regime. Moreover, the record cover displayed a picture of the Queen with a safety pin stuck in her nose.

\n\n

The single was found to offensive to be air played by the BBC, but it did not stop it from reaching number two on the BBC official singles chart. According to the myth, God Save the Queen was the top selling single in the UK at the time, but it was held back of number one to avoid controversies.

\n\n

Serge Gainsbourg and Jane Birkin scandalous duet Je TAime ... Moi Non Plus, translated: I love you... me neither, was the first ever number one hit to be banned by the BBC. Although at the time of its release, in 1969, the sexual revolution was celebrated, the British radio still was not able to cope with such explicit lyrics, not to mention Birkins moans and groans.

\n\n

The BBC ban and The Vatican denounce, did not stop Je TAime ... Moi Non Plus from being a top selling single in the UK and worldwide. In October 7, 1969, the single reached number one in the BBC official singles chart. At the same time, it had reached number 69 at the US singles chart.

\n\n

Je TAime ... Moi Non Plus was a major influence on another BBC banned single, Donna Summers disco pioneer from 1976 titled Love to Love You Baby. After counting 23 faked orgasms performed by Summer in Love to Love You Baby, the British Broadcasting Corporation banned the song. However, it did not stop it from becoming a massive hit. Love to Love You Baby reached number four on the UK single charts but peaked to number two on the Billboard pop chart.

\n\n

Relax by Frankie Goes to Hollywood is one of the most controversial singles as well as commercially successful singles in history. The BBC did not only ban the song it also did not stop BBC Radio 1 DJ Mike Read to publicly express his feelings of disgust from the single\'s explicit lyrics. In 1984, Relax stayed in the UK singles charts for 42 weeks. In five of them, it stayed in number one. By the end of 1984, embarrassed Auntie Beeb removed the ban. Relax is still very popular worldwide and it is one of the most recognized symbols of the era. The arguments on whether it gained such a huge success despite the BBC ban or the BBC ban helped promoting it have not been settled yet.

\n\n

Paul McCartney and the Wings response to the 1972 Bloody Sunday events titled Give Ireland Back to the Irish, was banned by every media resource in the UK. It was forbidden from being broadcast by the BBC, Radio Luxembourg and the Independent Television Authority. In addition, the song title was not allowed to be pronounced on the air, so when it arrived to the BBC Radio 1 chart show it was presented as a record by the group Wings. However, Give Ireland Back to the Irish hit the top of the Irish singles charts.

La Prima Donna Restaurant is Venue for Luxury Fashion Show Series by Producer Andres Aquino

USA International Fashion Shows has partnered with New York City restaurant La Prima Donna to present the Martini Fashion Dinner and Champagne Fashion Brunch series of shows. Martini Fashion Dinners are held on selected Monday evenings and Champagne Fashion Brunches take place on selected Sunday afternoons.

\n\n

Located on West 47th Street, in the heart of New York City?s Times Square and famous theater district, La Prima Donna\'s elegant and traditional Tuscan cuisine is updated with Venetian style and modern urban panache. Guests enjoy a truly original and exceptional culinary experience in an ambience of a Venetian Carnivale complete with wall murals and Renaissance art. The popular eatery, operated under the experienced direction of General Manager Mohamed Choayra, has received excellent write ups in the New York Daily News, Playbill, Gotham and A La Carte.

\n\n

?We are really excited about working with La Prima Donna,? says fashion show producer and company CEO Andres Aquino. ?After considering numerous places in New York, we found this venue to be a perfect fit for our shows due to its location, the ambience and decor as well as its exquisite Italian cuisine and, above all, the service of its management and staff.?

\n\n

The concept behind the events is to bring fashion shows to the people who love fashion, taking them out of the exclusive domain of the trade. The runway shows are combined with fine food and drink making a thoroughly enjoyable experience for the appreciative guests. A major marketing campaign is being launched in an array of media ranging from Playbill to the New York Times along with a heavy Internet presence.

\n\n

Opportunities are available for sponsors and advertisers who want to reach an affluent fashion-conscious audience. Attending guests come from as far as Australia and as near as midtown Manhattan. They come for special occasions such as family reunions, birthdays and anniversaries, father-daughter outings, and wedding proposals. Tickets to the shows are becoming popular customer appreciation gifts for favored clients and corporate incentives. Other guests include celebrities out for an unusual afternoon or evening activity and buyers looking for unique fashions. The ability to buy right off the runway and meet the designers and models in a relaxed atmosphere are among the features that make these events special. From the Far East to Europe to Canada and South America, the shows have generated a great deal of interest, and people are buying tickets up to six months in advance. Tickets are available through the company website as well as through various ticket outlets worldwide.

\n\n

?These events are positive experiences for everyone,? notes Andres Aquino. ?The audience gets a fabulous fashion show and a delicious meal, the designers get a great platform to show and hopefully sell their creations, the makeup artists and stylists get an opportunity to show their talent, the models get to wear beautiful clothes and add to their runway experience, the restaurant gets to introduce itself to new customers, the sponsors reach a targeted audience that is receptive to their message, and the attending press gets some great content for their editorials.?

\n\n

The participating designers present some of the best wearable couture and exquisite accessories. Recent shows have featured collections by designers from a host of countries including Austria, South Africa, Colombia, Dominican Republic, Switzerland, Germany, Canada, Russia, Israel, Bulgaria, England, India, and of course the USA. Some already have their lines carried in exclusive stores like Bergdorf Goodman and chic boutiques on Madison Avenue as well as in other fashion capitals. The modest participation fee makes this an attractive opportunity to designers looking to expand their market base and reach the press as well as wholesale and retail buyers.

\n\n

Press coverage of these events has included many articles in the printed press and Internet as well as TV coverage, sometimes from the fashion point of view and other times from the human perspective. One recent Champagne Fashion Brunch attracted media attention when an 87-year old former fashion model fulfilled a lifelong dream of walking on the runway. She modeled a couture gown made especially for her. Upcoming shows will be making donations to children?s charities.

\n\n

Producer Andres Aquino is CEO of USA International Fashion Shows and Fashion Syndicate Press, founded in 1997. He is also the founder and creator of New York\'s Couture Fashion Week and Bridal Fashion Week, attracting fashion and accessories designers from around the world.

Coffee Maker Types

When we hear the term ?coffee maker? most of us think of only one type of coffee maker. Most often, the drip style coffee maker or the espresso type machine comes to mind, depending on where you live and your taste in coffee. Of course, the choices vary with the region in which people live also.

\n\n

One type of coffee maker may be frowned upon in certain parts of the world, while being quite acceptable in another location. Some types of coffee makers are quite antiquated by today?s standards, but are still being used by those who prefer the coffee produced.

\n\n

Such is the case with the percolator style coffee makers. There are two types of percolator style coffee makers, the stove top model and the electric percolator. Both percolators work in the same fashion, which is circulating boiling water r over the coffee grounds and through a metal filter repeatedly. Some argue that this makes a good cup of coffee while others say this style coffee maker makes the worst coffee imaginable. The naysayers exclaim the percolator produces a bitter tasting coffee no matter what brand or grind of coffee you use.

\n\n

The automatic drip coffee maker is by far the most recognized type of coffee maker. This coffee maker produces coffee by heating water in a reservoir which then travels up into a coffee bin holding a filter with the coffee grounds. Then hot water steeps through the coffee and the filter in the bin and drips into an awaiting pot or carafe. These coffee makers usually have a heating element to keep the brewed coffee reasonably hot until the coffee is gone or it?s time to brew another pot. Some models come with a thermal style carafe which allows the coffee drinker to brew a pot of coffee right into the carafe for coffee on the go.

\n\n

Automatic drip coffee makers are the most widely used coffee makers by the American consumer. This type of coffee maker also has the versatility to make from one to usually ten cups of coffee at a time. There are also specialized one cup coffee makers which make use of the automatic drip method. The automatic drip coffee maker uses disposable filters, unlike the percolator style coffee makers.

\n\n

The espresso coffee maker comes in two versions for the consumer, stovetop and electric. The stove top model is of course less expensive than its electric counterpart. Another advantage to the stovetop espresso maker is that it is highly portable, unlike the electric model, which is limited in mobility by its size and need of electricity.

\n\n

One drawback to the stovetop espresso coffee maker is that it may leave bits of very fine powdery granules. This makes the stovetop espresso coffee maker a device that one must master the techniques of using to get a perfect cup of coffee.

How to become a Vegas Showgirl

All of the big Las Vegas casinos put on shows to attract crowds to the casino, and instead of hiring new dancers every time the change the show, they hire full time dancers and these girls are called Showgirls.

\n\n

If you have ever thought about putting elaborate costumes and dancing in front of crowds every night, then becoming a Vegas Showgirl may be the job for you.

\n\n

Being a Vegas Showgirl is not an easy job. You must be in top physical condition if you expect to be a professional dancer, and it is important to remember that not everyone will make it, becoming a professional dancer is a roll of the dice, you have better odds of winning an

\n

Online Craps game then making it as a dancer.

\n\n

There are several things you can do to help improve your chances of getting your carrier as a Las Vegas Casino dancer started:

\n\n

Dance lessons, if you want to be a professional dancer you have to learn several different styles of dance, and dance them all well. This may be the hardest part to becoming a dancer. This part will take many years and require you to spend several hours a day every day taking dancing lessons.

\n\n

Physical Conditioning, dancing requires lots of endurance and stamina. Besides the workouts you will get from all the dancing lessons you will take you will also need to work out on your own regularly. These workouts should include aerobic and some weight training.

\n\n

Weight training should not be done to build muscle mass only for building strength and muscle toning. The best way to do this is by doing high repetition counts of low weights. This method will make the existing muscles stronger but will not bulk you up.

\n\n

To pursue a carrier in dancing in a Vegas Casinos it is important to target the leg, stomach and back muscle groups. It is from these muscle groups that a dancer moves.

\n\n

Diet, Dancers are required to be tossed around and lifted into the air, not to mention the fact that most dancers are skin tight and for these reasons dancers must always watch their weight.

\n\n

Many Las Vegas Showgirls have to get on the scale every week and if they gain weight they could get thrown out of the show. Always remember there are many people that dream of dancing professionally, and the casinos will not hesitate to throw a girl out and replace her for the slightest reason.

\n\n

Once you feel you are good enough you can start sending in resumes. A resume should include each different style of dance that you know and how long you have been doing it, and it should also include all prior dance experience.

\n\n

A good way to get experience is to get yourself in as many different things you can. Local theater groups are a great way to gain experience. Getting a job as a dance instructor Is also a good way to gain experience and practice at the same time.

\n\n

By sending your resume to all the different casinos you can greatly increase your chances of getting at least one audition. Do not expect to get hired at the more popular casinos on your first audition. The bigger Las Vegas casinos usually like to hire girls with more experience, so you will probably have to work as a showgirl at a smaller casino first.

Determining Visitor Types

The trade show floor is full of different types of people with different agendas. Some people have specific goals for attending the show; others do not. As an exhibitor your observation and questioning skills will be your key to determining who may be a viable sales prospect. Familiarize yourself with the various visitor types likely to frequent the tradeshow floor.

1. Definites. If you have done a thorough job of preshow marketing, definite prospects and customers will visit your booth.

2. Demonstration Junkies. Watch out for passers-by who are attracted to your booth by a demonstration or other activity. These could be valuable prospects or time wasters. Ask a few short, open-ended questions to find out.

3. Curiosity Cats. These types could be curious about anything - what exactly your company does, a graphic, who designed your booth, and so on. Do not spend too much time with someone who is just interested in the design and construction of your booth or intricate details about your graphics.

4. Paper Lovers. Some people love to collect literature or just take any piece of paper no matter what it is. Are they attending the show to research the market for a boss? If so, they may be an influencer worth pursuing.

5. Eyeballers. These types are usually extremely friendly; they smile and their whole body language says, \"please talk to me.\" Questioning will determine whether or not they are prospects worth pursuing.

6. Jeopardy Gigolos. Winning contests is their passion. They are always ready, willing and able to drop a business card into a fishbowl for any kind of drawing. Contests that require more than just a business card to enter will help deter these types from finding their way onto your follow-up lists.

7. Keepsakers. Any kind of giveaway attracts these types. They may even want more than one for family, friends and colleagues. Keen questioning will ascertain if this visitor has potential.

8. The Disinterested. Some people in the crowd will simply not be interested in what your organization has to offer. They often let you know in no uncertain terms through their body language; for example, walking by purposely avoiding eye contact or chatting with a colleague. Waylaying these types will only upset them.

9. Hawks. These people attend shows for the sole purpose of selling you their products or services. Publication advertising representatives are a prime example. They are unlikely to be prospects, but you never know. If floor traffic is slow, it may be worth asking a few questions, if only to find out who they could refer you to.

10. Job Seekers. Trade shows are an excellent place to network and look for organizations who may have present or future job openings. As with Hawks, you may want to spend time with them during slow, unproductive periods.

11. Nonentities. These types could be underlings in their organization sent to do some specific research. Never underestimate them. They may be extremely strong influencers. In addition, they probably know whom in their organization you need to contact. Time spent with them could be invaluable.

12. Snoops. Beware of the competition! These types often give themselves away by knowing too much or asking precise questions. Make sure that you do more questioning than talking so that you lessen the chances of giving away valuable information.

Avoid the Duds - 10 Strategies for Selecting \"The Perfect Speaker\"

Today, more than ever, the success of meetings relies heavily on the strength of program content and presentation. Nothing can spoil a meeting more than hiring the wrong speaker. That\'s because speakers do more than just convey the overall meeting message. You look to them to provide insights, awareness, and cutting-edge information in an energetic, motivational, entertaining, and professional manner. What more could you ask for? Well, the right speaker can emphasize an important message, offer inspiration, help people cope with new assignments, and lead the way towards change.

Selecting the right speaker for your event is one of the most important, yet daunting elements for creating a successful meeting. Your speaker can often make or break the event. If he bombs, your reputation not only takes a severe nose-dive, but you also have the pleasure of dealing with the barrage of complaints from a disappointed audience. Yet, if he does well, you can walk away with many of the accolades, compliments, and of course, the rave reviews. By now, you probably realize that this massive responsibility is not to be taken lightly.

Raise Your Expectations

The skill to selecting a great speaker is determining what combination of education, motivation, and entertainment best fits your function. Then set out to find a perfect match. But keep your expectations high, since nothing can spoil a meeting faster than booking the wrong speaker. The following 10 guidelines should help you keep your focus and also keep you away from the \"duds.\"

1. Know the program objectives. Before you can start looking for the right speaker, you must know the program objectives. Begin with the end in mind. What are you looking to achieve? Is this an annual meeting, a training program, an incentive get-together, an awards celebration, or another type of event? This will probably be a committee or management decision, rather than one you will have to make. But you may have to make an intangible concept tangible.

2. Understand the audience\'s needs. Along with the program objectives, consider the needs of your audience. Does your group need industry-specific or technical information? Will a mix of motivation and entertainment serve your group\'s purpose? Today\'s audiences are generally younger, more educated, more diverse, and more sophisticated than in the past. They want content. They want to learn, but they also want it to be fun, so consider the audience needs and exactly what they expect. Consider surveying your audience. Ask them what they want or what skills would most help them in their jobs. For example, sales people may ask for advanced selling skills, but managers may request team building programs.

3. Check for reputation. With countless speakers out there vying for your business, how can you possibly determine which one best meets your needs? Many speakers produce highly professional or glitzy marketing materials to help sell their services. You must look deeper than simply scanning a few brochures and ask pointed questions to find the right fit, such as What experience does this speaker have? How familiar is this speaker with this industry? and, Who else has used this person?

4. \"Test drive\" your prospects. If you don\'t have the opportunity to preview a speaker in person, then the next best thing is to request a video or audio recording of a previous presentation. A session that was recorded before a live audience gives you a better sense of a person\'s real ability. Watch or listen carefully to how the speaker builds rapport and interacts with the audience. Ask yourself if this person would be right for your group. Is the combination of education, motivation, and entertainment appropriate for your needs? Does the speaker have a message that is appropriate, timely, and relevant to the theme or purpose of your event? Does it conform to your company\'s philosophy and policy? Do you feel the speaker is genuine and has the expertise to deliver a solid presentation?

5. Don\'t be star-struck. If you are considering celebrity speakers, make sure they can speak! TV personalities do a great job on the air, but sometimes have little public speaking expertise, and you should be aware that the skills needed for being on TV and for speaking live are very different. However, many well-known personalities make excellent speakers and can add enormous value and clout to your event. Politicians and sports, media, or entertainment celebrities often share life experiences, offer advice, or have an inspirational message to impart.

6. Be wary of grandiose claims. Speakers who claim to be all things to all people are probably desperate for work. Avoid them. True professional speakers, on the other hand, usually have certain areas or topics of expertise. They would much rather refer potential business to a true expert than jeopardize their reputation by trying to do a program outside of their knowledge zone. Also, beware of the charismatic and fluffy speaker as your audience wants good, solid take-away value.

7. Provide and ask for good information. Reputable speakers want to find out as much as possible about the meeting objectives, the audience, industry challenges, and so on in order to tailor their presentation to the group. Share information on your organization and audience to help the speaker design a program to fit your specific needs. provide them with newsletters, catalogs, or any other publications that highlight industry trends, key people, industry jargon or buzz words, and insider news and views.

Also include as much information as possible about the size and demographics of the audience such as age, gender, and positions.

8. Ask for an outline. Ask prospective speakers for an outline of the presentation to make sure they will be covering the material as you discussed. This will clearly lay out what\'s expected as verbal communication is subject to being misunderstood or misinterpreted. Seeing exactly what speakers plan to cover in the sessions should help to ensure that the material is tailored to your specific needs.

9. Maximize opportunities. Look for ways to maximize opportunities with your speakers. Discuss different ways they can add extra value and be a significant resource to help improve your meeting\'s success. Brainstorm ways that you feel they can assist you in planning, preparing, promoting, and presenting. Some suggestions include serving as an emcee, conducting special sessions or roundtable discussions about current issues for select groups such as company executives or the board of directors, and participating in a spouse program.

10. Trust your instincts. Through your communication with the speaker, you will quickly form an opinion or have a feeling about this person. First reactions count here. \"I like this person\" or \"I don\'t like this person,\" or \"I feel comfortable or uncomfortable working with this person,\" are strong indicators. These responses usually comes from your gut -- a very trustworthy organ. Have confidence in your instincts and trust that so-called sixth sense. If you experience any kind of negative feeling, think about looking for someone else or get another opinion from a colleague. You want to make sure that you can work with this person and that both of you are on the same wavelength.

The true objective of hiring a professional speaker hinges on establishing a partnership where a mutually beneficial relationship grows and flourishes. When this happens, you know you\'ve chosen well.

The Perfect Match

Overwhelmed with the plethora of speakers to choose from? You may want to turn to a speaker\'s bureau for advice and guidance. A good bureau should act as a consultant and partner to help your event succeed. Even though many hundreds of bureaus are out there, the numbers pale in comparison to the thousands of speakers. A bureau\'s sole purpose is simply to make your job easier and provide you with solutions. They want to find the best possible match for your event within your price range. So, where do go looking for one of these bureaus? Here are a few places to start your search: the phone book, chambers of commerce, convention and visitors bureaus, the Internet, industry colleagues, and friends.

A Final Note:

Look for CSP (Certified Speaking Professional) or CPAE (Council of Peers Award for Excellence) designations. Both these are conferred by the National Speakers Association and are considered the speaking profession\'s international measure of professional platform skill (http://www.nsaspeaker.org [out]).

Armed with these guidelines and resources, your search for the perfect speaker will be more fruitful. And with a little effort and some time, you will connect with a speaker who will fulfill your goals-- one that will be both inform and enlighten. Your audience will thank you.
